What makes Bellingham a unique place to live?
Bellingham is located in northern Washington, 90 miles north of Seattle and only 20 miles from the Canadian border. Known for its beautiful views and nearby outdoor recreation activities. Where did Bellingham, WA get its name?
The name Bellingham came from the bay it is situated on. They bay was named by George Vancouver in 1792. He named it after Sir William Bellingham, the person in charge of organizing and procuring provisions for the Vancouver Expedition. Before European settlers reached Bellingham Bay, the area had been inhabited by Coast Salish Native Americans. You may notice Coast Salish totem poles and wall murals in Bellingham created by their descendants.
