Where did Bellevue, WA get its name?
In the 1880s, after coal was discovered in Coal Creek, the village on Meydenbauer Bay was named Bellevue, which means Beautiful View in French. There's some debate if it was in reference to the view from the post office, or borrowed from a city in Indiana with the same name. There are now around 30 cities named Bellevue across the United States.
