Originally built in 1904, this spectacular low bank waterfront beach house on coveted 6th Avenue has been extensively remodeled and expanded. The open floor plan and wraparound decks take full advantage of the property's west facing water and mountain views. Features of the home include updated plumbing and electrical, seismic retrofitting, thermopane low-E windows, a built-in surround sound system and a newer Trane furnace. The gourmet eat-in kitchen has been tastefully updated with granite counters, custom maple cabinetry, a wine cooler, a double oven, a large central island with cook top and a wood burning fireplace. The public living spaces include a generous dining area, a living room with gas fireplace and a comfortable sitting area off the kitchen. French doors from the kitchen and living room offer easy access to outdoor amenities, which include a large side yard and a fully fenced, heated in-ground pool with custom Trex decking. A bonus room currently used as bedroom is located on the main floor, along with an adjacent 3/4 bath, a laundry room and a half bath. The second floor master retreat features water and mountain views, two walk-in closets, an office with a balcony and a luxurious bathroom with a jetted tub and separate shower. Two additional bedrooms and a 3/4 bath are also located upstairs. The property offers a generous detached two car garage with an adjoining, fully insulated 12' x 24' workshop with enhanced electrical capacity.
WATERFRONT
This stunning property offers approximately 150 feet of west facing low-bank waterfront, dramatic views of the Olympic Mountains, protected deep water moorage and a 130' x 8' dock with a 30' x 8' T. The dock has been extensively upgraded with 110V and 220V electrical service, water supply, extra tall steel pilings at the T and a Jet Dock for dinghies and jet skies. The low bank pebble beach is perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding and oyster farming.
FOX ISLAND
Fox Island is an idyllic place to live, featuring a strong sense of community, beautiful waterfront access and scenic mountain views. First called Bu Teu by the Native Americans, the island was used for burials and potlatches before becoming a temporary reservation after the Indian War of 1856. Soon after that, non-Natives began to settle the island that had been re-named for John Fox, an assistant surgeon on the United States Exploring Expedition of 1841. Though the island’s population in the late 1800s and early 1900s remained relatively small, it supported a large dogfish processing plant and a brick manufacturing company. In the 1890s, the community of Sylvan on Echo Bay consisted of a school, a store, a dock, a vacation lodge and a waterfront church. Completion of the Fox Island Bridge across Hales Passage in 1954 connected the island to neighboring Gig Harbor and resulted in a population “explosion” in the second half of the 20th Century, with the number of residents rising from 120 in 1956 to 2800 in 2000.
