What makes Boise a unique place to live?

Boise is the the most populated city in Idaho and serves as the state's capital. It is known for both its urban culture and nearby wilderness access, including lots of hiking and biking in the foothills just north of downtown. The city has plenty of unique restaurants, museums, and an art centers. Boise State University is the largest college located in Boise.

Where did Boise get its name?

In the early 19th Century French-Canadian fur trappers were struck by the contrast of the tree-lined Boise River Valley in the middle of the dry high desert. One popular legend is Captain B.L.E Bonneville's expedition featured a french guide, who exclaimed "Le Bois! Le Bois!" which translates to "The Woods. The Woods." Boise is now known as the "City of Trees." English speakers also referred to it as "Wood River," but the name Boise eventually stuck.
