I was born in Riverside California in 1946, and moved around the state with my family, as my father was transferred to many locations with the US Forest Service. After graduating from Bakersfield Junior College in 1967, with an AA Degree in Architectural Drafting, I was drafted into the US Army.
In 1969, I was honorably discharged, and married my wife Joan, who I had met in junior college gymnastics. We started our lives in Concord California, where I was employed as a draftsman for a large swimming pool construction company. In the mid 1970's I became half owner of the company, and began setting up several subcontractor in-house trades. In the late 1970's, I left the company to start a new shotcrete company with another partner. Due to the economic conditions of the early 1980's, it became evident I needed to close down the commercial work, and started my own swimming pool design and construction company, in the East Bay community of Danville, California. I had no employees for the first 3 years, and developed the company into the one of the strongest referral pool businesses in the East Bay. We soon had 11 employees, and added landscaping and home remodeling to our growing business.
I sold the company in 2004, and my wife and I moved to Prescott Arizona, where I continued to buy and remodel homes. Finding out that we were not desert people, we moved back to California in 2008. I continued to remodel homes until 2013, when I decided to sell real estate that I didn't have design or build, and joined Lyon Real Estate in Auburn. My experience in building and managing companies, has taught me the power of a true referral business, and my real estate business is geared to that goal. My wife and I enjoy living in the Auburn area, where we are able to hike the many trails we find here. We also enjoy fishing, camping, dancing, and our grandchildren. I still manage time to record my own music playing the guitar and keyboards in my studio at our home.
