My Mission

I simply love houses and the Pacific Northwest! As a Realtor since 1998 and a Seattle native I try and pass along my enthusiasm to everyone I come into contact with both personally and professionally. What could be better than living in a community where jeans and fleece are considered the state uniform and can be worn for any occasion? A sunny day in May is accepted as a legitimate excuse to take the day off work. And if outdoor fun in the form of hiking, camping, kayaking or skiing can be considered our favorite activity, then a close second is home improvement.
I'm committed to establishing long-term relationships and love to help people find homes that they will enjoy for years to come. If that means spending six months searching for the perfect home, then that's what we will do.
My goal is to provide excellent customer service and to exceed your expectations. I strive to be pro-active to help both buyers and sellers avoid surprises. You've hired me to assist you with the things you don't know, and to help you look at issues from a different perspective.

When I'm not selling houses

My husband Josh and I spend most waking moments parenting our two children Gwen and Trista. Since this big change (parenthood!) I've had to find new hobbies. Our one camping trip when Gwen was 11 months old was a disastrous 16 hours. Similarly, our hike at Mt. Rainier turned into a six-hour mosquito-infested forced march that no one really enjoyed after we ran out of frosted animal cookies. Lately we are enjoying "hikes" around Green Lake and day trips to Golden Gardens beach. When I do get a moment, I like to spend quality time with my running shoes.

Dana really listened to what we wanted. Not just what we initially said, but also offhand comments we made about the houses we saw together and her observations of us. She then refined the lists of houses she sent us to consider. Often she went to see the houses first and sent us notes in advance. Before working with Dana, we didn't have a solid handle on our criteria. We went to a bunch of open houses to 'get a feel for the market,' which now seems like a big waste of time and mental energy. Dana knew the market. She soon pointed us to West Seattle, where the bridge closure was creating a discount. It seemed so perfect for us, we wondered why we hadn't thought of that ourselves. Dana knew the walking neighborhoods and the schools. I didn't feel the need to do the hours of research on my own that I normally do. As we toured houses, Dana had no attachment to any of them. She was matter-of-fact about the pros and cons, both in general and specifically to us. She even knew how much it would cost to fix any given issue and had ideas for improvements. If something about a house was weird, we could laugh about it and move on. She never tried to help us like a house if we didn't. She also reminded us of our priorities if we liked a house that didn't really make sense for us. One house we loved had a complicated remodel. Dana read every single permit and city inspection report, called the inspector, got out her level, and gracefully managed frustrating communication with the owner's agent. Truly impressive. When we found the house we wanted to make an offer on, Dana expertly negotiated our bid into the winning position. After all the time you put in to find a house you love, negotiation is the one area where you want your broker to excel! Dana made sure we felt good about our offer, whether it was accepted or not. When we met up to get the keys, Dana reminded us to switch the utilities to our name--just one example of how she somehow keeps every little and big detail in mind at once. Even now that we've moved in, Dana is still helping get answers to our minor questions. She cares that you not only buy a house but have a smooth transition making it your home. My standards are high, as my mom has 20+ years experience as a Realtor. We had such an excellent experience with Dana throughout, I would send anyone to her who is looking to buy a house in Seattle.
