My Story - Background

The question I’m asked after people find out my professional background is, “Why did you become a realtor?” It was a tough decision to leave an industry I loved, aviation. I’m grateful for the opportunities and success I had in my former career working in advertising and public relations at Boeing and ending my career as the liaison on the 777 launch for United Airlines. That success, thanks to an awesome team of people at Boeing, led me to manage the public relations department for United Airlines and then become the director of communications at Reno Air reporting directly to the CEO. After Reno Air was sold to American Airlines, I started public relations consulting work for a small company in Seattle that was expanding. Amazon. It didn’t take long for them to need a large P.R. agency.

Why Real Estate

John and I wanted to move back to Seattle and that’s when a friend suggested that my skills would be great as a realtor. Wow, did that come as a shock. Our previous relocation experience from Seattle to Chicago to Lake Tahoe and back was not very pleasant. We rented out our home in Chicago and then tried to sell it. That’s when I learned a lot about real estate terminology; dual agency, pre-approved buyer, pre-qualified buyer, etc. Unfortunately, that education cost us over $10,000 in home repair fees. Since my husband is a contractor, I thought it would be nice to work in a similar field so in 1999, I went to best real estate school I could find. After I got my license I interviewed a lot of real estate office before finding Windermere. My goal was to find a company that could give me good practical experience with continual education.

Becoming a Trusted Real Estate Advisor

It didn't take long for my husband, a general contractor, to see some of the gaps. Most buyers and sellers don't know the quality differences in building material or the cost of future home improvements. That's when he offered to be available to anyone working with me. An additional benefit is that he's always available or has resources that can answer many home owners questions. This service combined with many other services helps me meet my goal of becoming your trusted real estate advisor.
