  9. The holes pocketed back in the woods will play differently than the westerly dune holes
  10. To the east of the course... the Westport Shipyard creates luxury yachts in the 20 mil price range
  11. Another shot of the "woods to dune" transition
  12. Pocketed natural areas remain as the course gets sculpted around them for a great "look and feel"
  13. The peninsula... complimented by golf.
  14. Secret Beach

The Links of Halfmoon Bay is being built in Westport...formerly known as "The salmon fishing capitol of the World". The thousands of people that visited in the 60's and 70's in pursuit of the mighty king salmon were not interested in a sandy beach.

    It was all about fishing...
  15. and 300 charter boats headed out daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day in pursuit of a big King!
  16. But through the 80's fishing waned.. and few of the thousands that visited to fish realized (or cared) that we had 18 miles of beautiful sandy beach.
  17. Freah air... room to run... Great for all ages.
  18. Surfing was going on in the 60's here.. but not like today! Hundreds of surfers from 3 to 73... slip on wetsuits and get out in our great surf.
  19. The 100+ yealr old Lighthouse is the tallest in the state and open for tours regularly.
  20. and yes... you can still catch a monster king salmon in the summer... fewer boats to choose from but still great fishing.
  21. Another local success story is the Westport Shipyard... making luxury yachts in the 15 to 20 mil range.
  22. and back to the beach... the least crowded and most pristine stretch of sand in the state.
  23. Our community hosts events through the year like this Rod Run and Car Show held in July each year... other events include kite festival, crab races, cranberry harvest festival, art festival, Pirate Daze and a great chainsaw carving event to name a few!
  24. Memories are made at the beach
  25. A Hobie Cat Regatta launches in halfmoon bay (near the future golf course) to run some time trials on the course.
  26. summer time brings a few more out to play
  27. Our 2.5 mile paved hiking and biking path starts at the marina, wrapping around halfmoon bay to the jetty... where it turns south along the oceanfront (and the new golf course) ending at the lighthouse. Bench seating and viewing platforms all along the way to sit a relax
  28. friends take to the water to catch a few waves before sunset
  29. Getting out of the city... sharing a quiet stroll along the coast... great ways to bring some balance back into your life.
  30. Each sunset over the Pacific is unique
  31. an overview
