Footnotes

  1. Living Area

Oak hardwoods warm this elegant, open living space. There's a deep, 30"-wide closet off the living room, which could hold a GE SpaceMaker stacking washer/dryer unit (Buyer to verify, and to install, to code at their own expense). I installed one in my own unit in this building, but ironically find myself using the Fairfax's laundry room instead because it's so spacious, the machines are always available, and I can knock-out monster loads in a jif.

  2. Dining Area

It's as if the leafy green trees are visually serenading your intimate dinner through the large picture windows.

  3. View of the million-dollar neighbor's waterfall.
  4. Kitchen

The kitchen comes furnished with a refrigerator, range/oven, microwave and under-sink dishwasher. There's ample counterspace and cabinets, plus room to install more if you like. Another large window lets light, and fresh air, in while you're cooking.

  5. Bedroom

Measuring a full eleven feet wide by sixteen feet long, this oversized bedroom is accessed by darling French doors. There's room for the largest of beds, a dresser, bookshelves and a home office.

  6. This is how the deep, wall-to-wall closet can look when organizers are installed (photo of neighboring unit with identical closet).
  7. Bonus Area (Office?)

The oversized 11x16' bedroom has ample room for the most ambitious of home offices as well.

  8. Bathroom

The bathroom charms with a pedestal sink, original tub, and ceramic tiled floor and tub-surround. Check out the transom (window over door) too!

  9. Exterior

Built in 1916 to house teachers working at the school across the street, The Fairfax was converted into condominiums in the mid-1980's and retains much of its original appeal.

  10. The "front yard".
  11. Courtyard

Shhh! A secret courtyard is accessed via the basement level. It is a common space to the Fairfax.

  12. Laundry Room

Two easy flights down is the laundry room... A few units have their own washer/dryer, so not everyone in this 14-unit building uses these machines.

Two flights down. Two sets of machines. No wait.
  13. This 5' x 5' x 8' storage unit can really pack it in!
  14. Parking

With free parking out front for nine cars, plus another dozen up the street...parking is a breeze. I live in the building myself and have never found the parking situation bothersome.

  15. Steps to...

With gas prices being what they are, Fairfax dwellers enjoy the opportunity to avoid driving altogether. They are just steps to staples of an urban lifestyle. Grab groceries at the spiffy new QFC, peruse the Sunday farmer's market in the Bank of America parking lot, enjoy eateries offering everything from sushi to Greek food, get your java fix at a selection of indie coffee houses, score half-price tickets at the Broadway Market, take care of business at the nearby library, Kinko's, post office and FedEx drop box, or just chill out with some local yoga. Or simply hop the #49 Metro and you're downtown (or in the U. District) in minutes!

Volunteer Park (includes a nature conservatory, tennis courts, outdoor stage and more)
  16. DeLuxe Bar & Grill
  17. Joe Bar Espresso
  18. The Harvard Exit Theater
  19. Aoki Sushi
  20. Byzantion Greek Restaurant
  21. Dilettante Chocolate's special dessert "Rigo Jancsi" (Hungarian Chocolate Decadence)
  22. Seattle Asian Art Museum
  23. It's in the Details...

From turn-of-the-century glass doorknobs, to period millwork, crown trim and more, the Fairfax units retain much of their old world charm.

It's just one easy flight of stairs up to the unit. Enjoy the ornate carved wood banister on the way up...
